Piano Jobs Exist – People Need To Know That YOU Do
It’s been a busy time here at the Pianist Directory and we’re delighted to have had the pleasure and privilege of welcoming so many new members this month. These are people who realize that when piano jobs become available, a greater presence is a valuable advantage.
Set Yourself Up For More Piano Jobs
Prior to hiring a pianist, people often have an open mind as to the type of performer they hire. Yes, sometimes their radar is set for a pianist who specializes in a certain genre like pop, classical, or jazz. Other times, price can be a significant factor. However, there is one particular characteristic the individual doing the hiring is especially sensitive to.
We’re talking about confidence. A person hiring for a prospective piano job wants to perceive that their prospective pianist is up for the task. The individual making the decision wants to feel optimistic that the event will be a better one because of the performer ultimately selected.
It’s A Process Of Elimination
Let’s face it. A very large degree of searching for a performer today is done in the online environment. So, when browsing profiles of pianists they have to choose from, what do prospective clients have to go on? It’s what you say about yourself. The content of that profile either projects professionalism or it doesn’t.
Put yourself in the shoes of your prospective customer. If there are five pianists listed in the local area and none of them are familiar to this person, what criteria will influence the decision as to who gets the job? When you really think about it, the hirer is looking to eliminate prospects until the piano job is given to one remaining pianist.
Express Your Enthusiasm
So, when it comes to creating a presence, you want to give that person enough of a reason to not eliminate you as a candidate for the piano job. How do you do that? By putting enough quality information in front of the client’s eyes. A musician’s profile that spells professionalism, confidence, and enthusiasm will generally get the most attention.
Your profile, when looked at, projects a certain amount of energy to an individual. Whether or not that energy is high is up to you. So, what are they looking for?
Since this initial “meeting” is not taking place face to face, the one hiring for the piano job wants to make a best guess. They want to see the profile of a person who projects enthusiasm for the job with clarity.
Create A Comprehensive Profile
Now, this is important. Different people place their focus on different things. A client may be influenced by a certain amount of
experience on behalf of the performer. However, enthusiasm to please is usually higher on the totem pole when it comes to making a decision. Another client might be influenced by watching video samples of the performer (hardly anything is more influential than this). A person who spends lots of time on social media may be influenced by the fact that you participate on sites like Linkedin and Facebook. And, yes, certain individuals can even make that decision based on a sincere smile.
What a person relates to is what influences the decision. That’s why it makes sense to be comprehensive with your profile content. A decent description that includes a bio and some other interesting information about you as a performer is a good idea. Providing a sample song list can be extremely influential. A few pictures in your profile will be a nice touch, perhaps of you performing. Along with this, linking to your social media pages is a good idea. Be sure to include at least one video, if possible.
Videos Can Result In More Piano Jobs
We live in a day and age where people are quickly and easily gravitated toward videos. All other things being equal, would you be likely to hire the pianist with a quality video or the one without any? A good video can really turn a customer in your favor. It can take them from a position of merely considering your services to saying, “You’re hired!” The fact that you have taken the time to include such content in your profile displays enthusiasm on your part. It shows that you mean business.
We Have The Tools
Here at the Pianist Directory, a Platinum Membership allows you to include all of the above. You can even include a special offer or “business card” for your potential client to print out and remember you by! What does that say about your professionalism? Remember, the content they print will likely spend some time on their desk, kitchen table, or refrigerator. In other words, your presence remains. That’s powerful.
When it comes to landing more piano jobs, it really boils down to the fact that those who get them will be the ones who convey a genuine desire to have them. Your online presence should be impressive enough to ultimately influence the client to want what you have to offer.
Create a professional looking profile. Be comprehensive with its content. Post a few quality images, share your social media presence, include one video or more, and offer your potential customers something to print that will help them to remember you. By following through, you greatly increase your chances of reaping more piano jobs.
